What attracted me to think of a concept for YouTube was the fact that I spend more time watching daily vlogs on the internet more than mainstream television. My research development started with learning about three top female YouTubers: Grace Helbig, Zoe Sugg, and Ingrid Nilsen, and how large of an impact they have to the online community. From there I learned a lot about YouTube's stats and was inspired to write an essay about the influence female content creaters had on their audience.
I chose the name Make Your Mark because I wanted the site to feel personal, straightforward, and literal. The name and objective go hand-in-hand with one another. I wanted the logo to stand on its own and still be cohesive with the objective of the website. Primarily, videos take most of the workspace; even the background uses video stills. I chose colors that would go well against motion and stands out amongst the black overlays.
My color selection primarily comes from the videos being played on screen. My color palette is based off bright and friendly colors that pop out against any video being palyed and is used minimally. I used a dark color for the navigation bar and workspace area to help it stand out but added transparency so that it would not overshadow the rest of the interface. I chose Gotham XNarrow as my font selection for the logo because I wanted the type to match the weight of the logo design but also balance out the width of the rounded square shape by using a narrow typeface.

Make Your Mark was unique in the sense that I did not know what my solution was going to be until midway through the project. In the beginning I struggled on how I could create a project from the reseached I had done for several weeks. What I realized is that the core of my project content already existed and I wanted to find a way to engage the user even more than what already exists online.
